  STATION PROFILEThe continuously growing population and accessible power sources in the Ilocandia dictate the need to improve communication facilities and services, thus, Tirad Pass Radio-Television Broadcasting Network, Inc. decided to put up an AM radio station with call sign DZTP, a commercial broadcast station whose studio and transmitter are located at San Nicolas, Candon City, Ilocos Sur. Radio station DZTP, which is more popularly known as “Radio Tirad Pass” is the first and only radio station in the second district of Ilocos Sur.

  DZTP serves as links for the information and communication needs of the constituents of the city of Candon and the other towns of the entire province of Ilocos Sur, which is actually considered its primary target market. Nevertheless, DZTP’s coverage area is not limited to Ilocos Sur alone but also extends to the neighboring provinces of La Union, Ilocos Norte, Abra which are considered secondary market. The possibility of getting DZTP’s signal over the provinces of Pangasinan, Benguet and Mountain Provinces is not all remote. We cater all kinds of listeners, from high school students who like listening to music and to matured ones who listens to news and public affairs. The anchors are receiving at least two hundred text messages from the listeners with their feedbacks, comments on daily issues and greetings.

  By virtue and authority given by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC), DZTP operates at 693 khz on the radio dial. NTC authorized of operating power of 10,000 watts, its points of communication or service area is within 500 uV/m F.I. contour during daytime and within 2,500 uV/m F.I. during night time. However, we are currently operating at 5,000 watts.

  After more or less two months of test broadcast in 1994, radio station DZTP was formally launched in January 8, 1995 in the community where it operates. Upon the submission of the necessary documents compliance to the requirements to the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP), Tirad Pass Television Broadcasting Network became accredited member of the KBP on April 19, 1995.

  The franchise of the Tirad Pass Radio-TV Broadcasting Network, Inc. has been approved by the Republic of the Philippines by virtue of Republic Act 8070, “an act granting the Tirad Pass Radio-TV Broadcasting Network, Inc. a franchise to conduct, establish, operate and maintain commercial AM-FM radio and television stations in the Philippines and for other purposes.”
