Camp BGen Oscar M Florendo. Two suspects in the recent watch store robbery in Makati City surrendered on separate occasions in Pangasinan province.
Dennis Serquiña, 27, married, was arrested on October 31 at his residence in Barangay Aloo in Umingan town by elements of the Region 1 police headed by Police Chief Superintendent Ramon V. Gatan, and the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Police Intelligence Operations Unit (NCRPO-RPIOU).
Two days later, on November 2, after negotiation personally initiated by Gatan and PSSupt Percival G. Barba, Pangasinan Provincial Police Director, another suspect identified as Jose Warlito C. Rodriguito, alias Wal-let, 52, married, resident of Barangay San Rafael Centro in San Nicolas town and a Scout Ranger-trained former member of the Philippine Army, surrendered to the authorities.
On questioning, Serquiña and Rodriguito admitted being members of the Alvin Flores Group, an organized crime group responsible in a series of robbery incidents in Luzon, including that of the Rolex Department Store in Greenbelt 5, Makati City on October 18.
“The two confessed participation in the Makati heist, both as security/look-out of the group,” Gatan said.
Serquiña and Rodriguito likewise revealed that they stayed in a safe house located in Bulacan province prior to the Greenbelt robbery, and that the group used three (3) vehicles, namely, a black Isuzu Trooper, a sky-blue Honda City and an ivory-colored Toyota Corolla, all of unknown plate numbers.
Gatan added that the two arrested suspects identified the gang members as Alvin Flores, leader of the group; a certain Joseph, allegedly the group’s assistant leader; Armand Domingo, who was killed during the Makati robbery; Jay-ar Saldivar; Roger Carbonnel, alias Mata; and six others, known only as Katawan, Taba, Ka Romy, Toling, Alvin and Boyet..
Alvin Flores and three other alleged members of the robbery gang were killed in a shootout with combined elements of the PNP and the National Bureau of Investigation in a beach resort in Cebu City on October 29. pnppro1
