CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Members of the Pangasinan police arrested four men and confiscated six firearms as a result of an intelligence-driven operation conducted in Tayug town in Pangasinan.
In a report to Ilocos police head Police Chief Superintendent Constante D. Azares, Jr., Pangasinan police director Police Senior Superintendent Percival G. Barba disclosed that, the police received information on the alleged presence of armed men in Barangay Sto. Domingo in Tayug.
Upon confirmation of the information, police personnel were dispatched to the said place. However, prior to the arrest, the suspects were able to place their firearms inside a black Chevrolet Optra car then locked the said vehicle.
Barba identified the arrested persons as Samuel Cajang, 27; Mario Castro, 38; Manolito Cajang, 44; and Ramil Cabanilla, 40; all from Tayug town. They were brought to the Tayug Police Station for investigation.
The police later opened the car where the guns were kept after securing a search warrant issued by Judge Ulysses Butuyan of RTC Branch 51 in Tayug.
Found inside the vehicle were six firearms loaded with respective ammunition, namely; 2 caliber .45 pistols, 2 caliber .38 revolvers, one caliber .357 and one caliber.380. Also found inside the car were various magazines for different types of firearms.
The vehicle was determined to be registered in the name of one Joey Gapuz Bermas, a resident of Zaragoza Street in Tayug town.
“We will be filing a case for violation of Republic Act 8294 in relation to Comelec Resolution No. 8714 (Gun Ban) against the suspects. Even so, we are still conducting further investigation,” Barba said. (pnppro1)
