Camp BGen Oscar M. Florendo. The Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee of Region 1(RLECC1) convened this afternoon (July 27) at the Concord Building here and addressed various law enforcement and related issues affecting the region.
Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu, Region 1 police director and RLECC1 chairman, presided over the meeting, the second this year, officially calling it to order at about 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon.
In his remarks, PCSupt Bucayu thanked the representatives of the committee’s member-agencies for their contribution in bringing about the realization of Region 1’s law enforcement objectives.
He also acknowledged the guests present, namely; Mayor Daisy Sayangda Olivar of Santol, La Union; La Union Board Member Victoria Lucina Aragon; and Dr. Magno Jose C. Valdez, head of the ER Department of the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC).
The highlights of the meeting included a presentation on Updates on the Preparedness and Capabilities of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee 1 (RDRRMC1) by Assistant Regional Director Imelda M. Acosta of the Office of the Civil Defense, and a lecture on Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) and Health Emergency and Response Training (HEART) delivered by Dr. Valdez.
Other major topics discussed were the Proposed Anti-Illegal Drugs Summit presented by Atty. Marvin Tavares of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement on the Reduction of Vehicular Accidents expounded by Mr. Silverio Mangaoang, Jr. of the Philippine Ports Authority.
The RLECC1 chairman awarded certificates of appreciation to the resource speakers, shortly before adjourning the meeting at about 5:00 PM.
RLECC1 is composed of the heads of different Region 1 government agencies, local government units, and other concerned offices. Its inter-agency coordinating activities have been instrumental in the creation and successful implementation of impact projects and programs that greatly contributed to better law enforcement and favorable peace and order situation in the Ilocos-Pangasinan Region. ###
